Apple Vision Pros – Are They Worth It?

Released to the US market on February 2nd 2024, Apple’s new Vison Pro’s gives users a taste of sci-fi magic, but is this VR headset really worth it? Here’s what we think.

What do the Apple Vision Pros Do? 

Let’s start off from the beginning, what do the Apple Vision Pros actually do? Combining digital content with physical surroundings, the headset allows you to use your apps, view photos, watch films, play games and more directly in front or surrounding you. Users can navigate this savvy tech using their eyes, voice and hands. This is Apple’s first spatial operating system – so this headset is a part of Apple tech history!

Apple Vision Pros Design 

Your typical VR headsets often appear very clunky and are mainly built from plastic. Apple ditches this look completely and instead offers users a futuristic and sleek design. The front of the Vision Pros are made from a singular piece of three-dimensional laminated glass that seamlessly flows into an aluminium alloy frame that wraps around the user’s face. Alternatively, the headband is a ‘Solo Knit Band’ that provides cushioning, breathability and stretch – a comfortable experience with the headset made easy.  

In terms of sound, speakers are tactically positioned close to the user’s ears and deliver incredibly rich Spatial Audio while still keeping you aware of your surroundings. 

Are the Apple Vision Pros Worth It?

Moving on to the main question, are the Apple Vision Pros worth it? We think this depends. If you’re an avid movie watcher or a gamer for example that’s not on a tight budget, and you’re searching for a way to level up your entertainment experience, then this headset is worth the investment. Features such as Spatial Audio and an immersive panorama wrap swoop in and make users feel like they’re part of the action like never before. However, the hefty $3499 (£2800) minimum price tag of the headset needs to be considered. If you’re on a tighter budget, and you’re already satisfied with the entertainment that your MacBook, iPhone or TV provides, then we’d recommend not getting the Vision Pros. 

When do the Apple Vision Pros Get Released in the UK?

Currently, the Apple Vision Pros are only available to purchase in the United States. Apple has stated that the headset will released in other territories, including the UK during 2024. This statement being annoyingly very generic, could mean any time from now to the end of the year.
