The September iPhone 16 launch is fast approaching, and the rumours are more prevalent than ever. Here is a rundown of some rumours we hope will come to fruition.
Longer Battery Life & Faster Charging Speeds
A longer battery life will always be welcomed by consumers. The iPhone 16 battery is rumoured to be longer lasting than its predecessor iPhone 15 series and is said to support faster charging. Currently, Apple chargers support up to 20W speed, with the iPhone 16 this speed is rumoured to be bumped up to 40W! This means users will be able to charge their device faster and more efficiently than ever.
iPhone 16 Pro Screen Increase
One of the most substantial rumours is that the iPhone 16 Pro models will have increased display sizes. The 16 Pro display is rumoured to boast a 6.3” display (up from the iPhone 15 Pro’s 6.1” display). Alternatively, the iPhone 16 Pro Max display is said to come in at 6.9” (up from 6.7” on the iPhone 15 Pro Max). Although these increases are slight, we believe they’ll still make a big difference in viewing pleasure, so let’s hope this rumour is true!
New Capture Button
When Apple introduce a new button it’s big news. It’s speculated that the iPhone 16 could receive a new ‘Capture’ button on its right side. This button is said to be completely different from the iPhone 15 Pro’s Action Button and will have its own distinct functionality. It’s not currently known what this button will do, but perhaps it might have something to do with photo and video functions based on the name.
New A Series Chip
A new A18 Bionic chip is almost certainly on its way, but rumours are that this chip will remain consistent across all iPhone 16 series handsets. This would be a different approach for Apple, as their entry models typically feature the same chipset as the previous series; for example, the iPhone 15 features the same A16 Bionic chipset as the iPhone 14.
Apple however could still differentiate between the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro. A18 chips with fewer GPU cores (either binned or disabled) could be allocated to the iPhone 16 models, while the iPhone 16 Pro would feature chips with a more advanced GPU.
All Apple fanatics can do now is wait and see what the tech giant delivers; we’re crossing our fingers that some of the above rumours are made into reality!
