“Unleash the Power of Magic” is the catchy tagline of the new HONOR Magic5 Lite 5G. As the successor smartphone of the amazing Honor Magic4 Lite 5G, this drop has been long-awaited by fans worldwide, and expectations were high.
What “magic” is up for grabs this time you ask? Well, users can soak up the luxury of a 6.67 inch 120Hz OLED curved display destined for viewing perfection, a 5100mAh battery that lasts a whopping 2 days and to top it all off a 64MP triple rear camera which is guaranteed to take your photography game to new levels.
I was lucky enough to get my hands on an HONOR Magic5 Lite 5G handset of my own, to put these features and more to the test!
120Hz OLED Curved Display
Made from deeply reinforced glass with an enhanced stress of over 900Mpa2, the durable OLED curved display featured on the HONOR Magic5 Lite 5G is one of the most talked about features. With a 45-degree Golden Curvature, 800 nits full-screen brightness and a whopping 1.07 billion colours featured, users are given an incredible, bright and rich viewing experience.
To try out this display I headed to the likes of the famous trio Netflix, Youtube and TikTok to see if this screen was as premium as the marketing claims.
Having this swanky new HONOR, I took this as an opportunity to check out the new action-packed John Wick: Chapter 4 film trailer and was very impressed. Visuals were jam-packed with detail, richness and brightness, and thanks to the high 120Hz refresh rate graphics were as smooth and seamless as ever. During my ever-so-important Netflix and Tik Tok sessions, the visuals followed suit and were one of my best viewing experiences to date -a win for HONOR.
7.9mm Slim Body
If there are three words to describe the 7.9mm body of the Honor Magic5 Lite 5G, it’s stylish, sleek and futuristic. HONOR has hit the nail on the head when it comes to creating an amazing lightweight smartphone, that looks the part too. This ultra-slim handset is up for grabs in three flawless colour options: Emerald Green, Titanium Silver and Midnight Black.
5100mAh 2-Day Battery Life
A fantastic long-lasting battery is fundamental in any great smartphone, and the 5100mAh battery in this HONOR definitely exceeds that mark. You’re probably wondering what exactly makes this battery different from the rest of the smartphones in the market. Well, smart power-saving technology swoops in, works its magic, and provides users with two days’ worth of usage!
To put this handy feature to the test, I bought the HONOR Magic5 Lite 5G with me during a hectic work week without charging it at all, to see if the battery could really stand the test of time. Despite continuously using the Magic5 Lite to snap photos, play music and video call all day, the battery held up perfectly – and did in fact last a whole two days. This was super convenient and eased any worry about my phone unexpectedly dying. If there’s one word to describe this battery it’s ‘reliable’.
Alongside its long-lasting nature, 40W HONOR SuperCharge capabilities are also thrown into the mix. This gives you 12.5 hours of unstopped video-watching with just 30 minutes of charging!
64MP Triple-lens Camera
The camera power behind the HONOR Magic5 Lite 5G is one of a kind. The beautifully iridescent rear of the handset is complimented even further with an Ultra Clear 64MP triple-lens camera system made to boost your photography game.
To see if this camera really delivered some wow factor, I headed to my local flower shop in preparation for Mother’s Day to see if this triple-lens system lived up to the impressive claims.
As soon as I snapped my first photo on the Magic5 Lite 5G I was blown away by the incredible high quality. Not only did the Ultra Clear lens capture the true vibrancy of the flowers on display, but it also picked up the intricate details within the frame – another triumph for HONOR.
Qualcomm SM6375 Snapdragon 695 5G Chipset
The last standout feature I put to the test was the performance. The Magic5 Lite 5G runs on a 6nm Snapdragon 695 5G chipset, which is known for its signature smooth and fast performance.
No matter what task I threw this handset’s way from downloads to game playing this processor combined with HONOR RAM Turbo really kept up with the punches.
